Well, Aishwarya and Abhishek were supposed to star together in yet another film.
But that’s no more possible. Aishwarya had already opted out of the project due to date problem.
‘Crooked’ was supposed to cast them as a pair, but in different segments.
Aishwarya and Abhishek will no more be a onscreen couple in their upcoming project' Crooked'.
Well Aishwarya was already replaced by former Miss India Sarah Jane Dias.
Ritesh Sidhwani’s ‘Crooked’ took on to a bitter note when Sonya Jehan replaced Aishwarya Rai due to formers date conflict, while Abhishek Bachchan started shooting for film on January 14.
It is confirmed that Sonya is the new launch for the lead role, Ritesh stated “But I can’t reveal what she’s playing.
She’s tremendously beautiful and talented and suited the part she has been chosen for. We won’t call the film ‘Crooked’, though. That was the working title. And we’re looking for a new title urgently before the working title sticks.”
Reportedly,in this film Aishwarya and Abhishek’s are not playing in romantic interest but as adversary.
According to the source report.
“For Abhishek and Ash, the whole charm of doing another film together was to not be together. ‘Crooked’ was supposed to cast them not as a pair, but in different segments.” May be that’s the reason why Ash is off the scene.
Looks like things are finally turning straight for Crooked. That's Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani's next production toplining Abhishek Bachchan, under the direction of Abhinay Deo. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who had been reportedly finalised to play the female lead, eventually opted out due to date issues.
After her exit, the producers and director were looking for a suitable replacement. Apparently, Akhtar, Sidhwani and Deol mutually decided to look for a new face to cast opposite Bachchan. According to our source, Sarah Jane, former Miss India (2007) has been confirmed to step into Aishwarya's role in the film which is said to be inspired by the Bourne series featuring Matt Damon.
For many years now Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan have shared great vibes, both on and off the movie sets. Now, it looks like they are ready to take their bonding to an altogether new level.
Sanjay is seeking creative inputs for his new movie from Aishwarya. This comes as a surprise because Sanjay is known to be very possessive about all his projects and takes all creative decisions himself. He hardly consults anyone once the film goes on the floors.
A source says, “We are seeing a completely different side of Sanjay. He seeks Aishwarya’s advice all the time and discusses the film with her. Sanjay also asks Aishwarya to be present on the sets even when she does not have a scene.
This is because the film-maker wants Aishwarya to give cues during filming and even discuss creative details. Sanjay has never done this all his life.

The inspirational Abhishek ‘Sirji’ Bachchan has now become a tree to promote Idea Cellular’s new ‘Green Planet’ campaign. With global warming becoming a hot debate topic, Idea’s Sirji is advocating ‘Use Mobile, Save Paper’ to ’save the planet’.
The new Idea TVC showcases how the mobile phone can be used as an efficient tool to read daily newspapers, generate e-bills, make payments and transactions, issue e-tickets and boarding passes; thereby saving tonnes of paper everyday.
Brand Ambassador Abhishek Bachchan, playing the role of an agonized ‘tree’ this time, strikes the idea of using mobile phone to save paper, and therefore, the greenery around him. As more and more people switch to their mobile screens, from everyday usage of paper, the tree regains life and leaves the audience with a simple message - ‘Use Mobile, Save Paper’.

If not everyone there is someone who wants to be like Mr. Perfectionist. Priyanka Chopra wants to be as perfectionist as fellow-actor Aamir Khan.
As it is Piggy Chops is perhaps the most talented singers amongst our growing actor-singer community.
No show is complete without a request for a song from the sexy diva. So when Karan Johar requested her to sing on popular television show ‘Lift Kara De’, she promptly sang without much ado-’Jhumka gira re Bareilly ke bazaar mein’- the famous Sadhana number from the film MERA SAAYA.
But after the shot was canned, she was unhappy with her attempt and wanted to dub it!
Karan nonchalantly said: ‘Now you want to be Aamir Khan? And like Aamir you will come before anybody else to dub for it too!’
Top 10 hottest Bollywood actresses
Thanks to all the hot actresses it was a sizzling year in Bollywood. We flipped though all the scorching details to come up with the 10 actresses who, according to us, contributed the most to this rise in temperature. And there are some notable names that didn't make it to our Top 10 Hottest Bollywood Actresses of 2009 list. Anyway, let's begin with the sizzlers.
10. Priyanka Kothari: While Ram Gopal Varma's Agyaat remained largely unknown to the filmgoers, the lead actress in the film, who incidentally plays an actress in the film, became quite a known body.
9. Sonam Kapoor: Anil Kapoor's little girl has indeed grown up. Though Sonam is best known for her dazzling smile, we believe that there are many other things that add to her sexiness
8. Mahie Gill: Anurag Kashyap's Dev.D redefined Devdas and while the film rightfully belonged to the director and the lead actor, who can possibly forget Paro - the girl who shoots nude images of herself to send to her lover across the seas. And the scene everyone just can't seem to stop talking about, where Paro carries a mattress to the fields to have sex with Devdas.
7. Deepika Padukone: While we expected a doubly hot Chandni Chowk to China given that Deepika was in a double role, but the film seemed more like journey on foot from Chandni Chowk to China. But then Deepika didn't let her fans go disappointed, she looked ravishing in Love Mera Hit Hit item number in Billu.
6. Vidya Balan: Vidya Balan, probably upset with the criticism that she received on her looks and dressing in 2008, kept a low key for most of 2009. But when we saw her in Paa, we couldn't help but appreciate the fresh new Vidya.
5. Lara Dutta: Beauty queens make for hot actresses and Lara Dutta just adds more weight to the statement. First we saw her in a de-glam role in Billu. Our only grudge is that Priyadarshan could have easily slipped in a Mandanikiesque waterfall song, but he didn't.
4. Bipasha Basu: The Bongshell finally acted in a Bengali film and looked lovely in it. It is not always that we would refer to Bipasha as lovely, sexy is the more appropriate adjective.
3. Sushmita Sen: Some things get better with age and so does Sushmita. When we saw her on the ramp walking for Sanjana Jon at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, we were literally left gaping.
2. Priyanka Chopra: Priyanka played 14 roles in 2009! Okay, 12 of them were in a single film What's Your Raashee?. This just means that in 2009 we got to see lots of Priyanka and we loved it (can't say the same about the film What's Your Raashee? though).
1. Kareena Kapoor: And who's the hottest of them all? Okay, you already know. While the poster for Kurbaan could've been reason enough for the top slot, but we aren't that shallow.
Well, everyone around would be wondering, where's Katrina and aishwarya rai? We too agree. Putting together a list like this and not including Katrina is nothing short of sacrilege.
Bollywood beauty Kareena Kapoor has always made people follow her trends but this time it is the reverse. Kareena who's seen wearing a red dress on the cover of GQ magazine looks somewhat similar to what former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore for the cover of Verve magazine last year. Take a look!
Same-to-same: Neha Dhupia at the 'Bollywood Hero' Premiere (August 2009) and Mehar Bhasin at Crystal Awards (0ctober 2009).
Same-to-same: Deepika Padukone for 'Verve' photoshoot (November 2009) and Katrina Kaif at the Cosmo Awards (November 2009) were seen in the same dress
Same-to-same: Katrina Kaif and producer Ramesh Taurani's daughter Sneha wore the same dress in different colours at the party held to celebrate the success of 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' (November 2009)
Same-to-same: Priyanka Chopra in a Swapnil Shinde dress at a party (December 2009) and Amrita Rao in a similar Swapnil Shinde dress on the sets of 'The Perfect Bride' (November 2009). (Picture Courtesy: Mumbai Mirror)
Same-to-same: Priyanka Chopra at 'Jail' music launch (October 2009) and Rani Mukherjee on the sets of 'Dance Premiere League' (December 2009)
Neetu Chandra truly believes she’s the next Aishwarya Rai. Now why’s that? It’s because she is working with Ram Gopal Varma and Jag Mundhra and the Bachchan bahu has worked with these directors on her last films.
But that’s not all. She draws likenesses between her and the former Miss World because she has now moved into an apartment in Lokhandwala where Aishwarya lived in her early days. Maybe she is now looking towards having an Abhishek Bachchan soon too, who knows?
A week after its release, James Cameron’s Avatar is still rocking at the Indian BO with a 10-day collection of a whopping Rs50 crores (Rs 500 millions), making it the 4th biggest Hollywood movie ever in India!

The film has released in 2D as well as 3D with the 3D collections amounting to 25% of the total figures. The no of 3D screens has seen an increase from 12 screens to over 50 screens registering a growth of over 300%.
Not only has Avatar broken box office records of Hollywood films like of 2012, Titanic & Spiderman 3, but also ranks #7 amongst the big bollywood films in India surpassing the opening week collections of top Hindi films like All The Best, Kaminey, Delhi 6 and New York. The film has in fact beaten the openings of recent high profile Hindi films like Rocket Singh & Paa as well.

Bollywood Queen Aishwarya Rai, who was supposed to feature on the reality show Dance Premier League, couldn’t accept the offer due to her packed schedule and not on account of money issues, her publicist said Tuesday.
A recent news story issued by a channel suggested Bollywood Actress Aishwarya Rai was ousted by Madhuri Dixit for one of their reality shows, citing money as an issue. We would wish to clarify that this is an act of fiction, fact being that Aishwarya, who is known to be a thorough professional, had to refuse the show on account of her commitment to films, her publicist said in a press statement.
The show is now being judged by Rani Mukerji along with dance guru Shiamak Davar.
Aishwarya is currently busy shooting Sanjay Leela’s Guzaarish.
Her movies like Endhiran, Action Replay and Ravana are all nearing completion, so the subject of money and costing never did arise as discussions did not go beyond schedules and dates.
The proposal had come to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan through the Moranis (the show producers) and even Shiamak pushed Aishwarya to do the show, but the dates could just not be worked out, said the publicist.
Pyaar Impossible Music Directors: Salim Merchant-Sulaiman Merchant Lyricist: Anvita Dutt Guptan Singers: Anushka Manchanda, Salim Merchant, Dominique Cerejo, Vishal Dadlani, Neha Bhasin, Neha Dayal, Mahua Kamat, Naresh Kamath and Rishika Sawant Rating: *** Actor Uday Chopra turns producer with Pyaar Impossible, and the film boasts of young contemporary music, perfect for college-goers. The film that stars Uday and Priyanka Chopra contains five originals and two remixes composed by Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. The album opens with "Alisha", crooned by Anushka Manchanda and composer Salim Merchant himself. The free-flowing, catchy track is quite appealing thanks to Anushka's vocals and the general attitude of the song. Salim gives this song an extra edge and makes it an interesting hear. The song also has a remixed version, which is high on energy and is an electronic spin to the original. It is ideal for the dance floor. Next in line is the title track "Pyaar impossible" sung by Vishal Dadlani and Dominique Cerejo. The romantic track is hummable and the unplugged background music makes a good impact. This song too has a remixed version, which is not too different from the original. Neha Bhasin and Benny Dayal go behind the mike for "You and me", a peppy, fun track. The mix of Hindi and English lyrics and heavy influences of pop make it a song just right for youngsters. It is nice but not as appealing as the earlier tracks. Up next is "10 on 10", a track that has a complete rock feel. It is energetic and high on beats with vocals by Mahua Kamat, Anushka Manchanda and Naresh Kamath. The foot-tapping song doesn't seem interesting initially but it slowly grows on you. Then there is "Ek thi ladki", which has been sung by child artist Rishika Sawant. More of a narration than a song, "Ek ladki thi" is an average number. On the whole, the album is a good mix of slow and fast-paced songs and goes well with the theme of the film. The soundtrack is urban, young and mainly for the younger generation.
Actors Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, who were seen together in Namastey London, Welcome and Singh is Kinng, have teamed up again up in Priydarshan’s De Dana Dan.
The two are good friends even off the screen and are often sighted squabbling with each other. Recently, Katrina revealed something about the actor that not many people know of. ’Akshay loves his phone he is on phone all the time. It is only when the shot is ready that he agrees to hang up.’
Akshay retaliates, ‘Katrina takes so much time to get ready that while she does so, I can can finish all my work and shoot for my bit.’
Shriya Saran is the cover lady for South Scope’s latest issue where not only bares her body but also bares her soul. Like?
Kareena Kapoor is basking in the glory of 3 Idiots, although her role was very limited in the movie.
Kareena says, Who says I’ve nothing to do? I’m very much part of the main drama. Would the story move forward if you remove my character? Everywhere I go, I am swamped by compliments for the role. The length of the role didn’t matter. I’m just glad to be part of a historic happening.
Talking about her chemistry with Aamir she says, Everyone in one voice thinks we look good together. I think Aamir and I make a fantastic pair. I’d love to do another film with him immediately, this time I don’t want share him with other pivotal characters.
When Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir asked me to be part of their film, I jumped at it. I knew the film would be special because of Raju and Aamir, and I was right. As far as our cinema is concerned, Aamir is god.

The 22-year-old Tennis star SANIA MIRZA was formally ENGAGED today breaking many hearts. She got engaged to Hyderabadi businessman Mohammed Sohrab Mirza on Friday.
Sania Mirza with fiance Mohammed Sohrab Mirza in Hyderabad.
Sania Mirza (born November 15, 1986) is an Indian tennis player. She was born in Mumbai, but brought up in Hyderabad. Coached by her father, Imran Mirza, she began playing tennis at the age of six, turning professional in 2003
Sania was dressed in a dazzling Shantanu & Nikhil, Swarovski-studded ghagra, snugly fit at the hips and gaining in flare around the ankles. Sania had picked the colours for the occasion — emerald green and gold — much in advance. ‘‘We’ve had this choker in our family for 75 years, emerald set in dull gold. It is my mother’s. Before her, it was my dadi’s and I wanted to wear it,’’ Sania said.
The blouse, a mix of the East and West, done in a corset design, was complemented by a netted dupatta, which Sania fetchingly draped over her head.
In an exclusive, by-invitation only function at a Hyderabad luxury hotel, the evening’s celebrations were kicked off with a ceremonial exchange of rings.
Sania hadn’t seen her ring, a glittering solitaire, until the moment Mohammed placed it on her ring finger. Moments later, her eyes reflected its shine and sparkle.
About Mohammed Sohrab Mirza : Sohrab Mirza is a B.Com graduate from St. Mary’s college and will soon joining his MBA class of British University, UK. Mr. Mirza is expected to fily UK very soon
After Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, you too seem to have developed a fascination for this entire 6 pack, 8 pack abs affair?
(Laughs) Believe me; even I was surprised when I developed 8 pack abs. I was just trying to get in shape and was working out for that. However, it was during the shooting of a song for Chance Pe Dance when director Ken (Ghosh) just smiled and waved at me. He called me near the monitor and asked me to have a look at it. We had a hearty laugh because it was the camera that eventually had captured my 8 packs.
Shahid Kapoor Come on, it's hard to believe. You developed an 8 pack and it's the camera which told you first about it?
I swear that was indeed the case. See, I was working out to be fit and not to get into any competition with anybody. I wasn't sitting and counting my abs. But yes, when Ken pointed this out, I did feel good about it, more so because this hadn't been planned. However, let me also clear that I am not going to live for maintaining this physique. Fit rehna important hai but for these abs, I am not going to stop eating what I want or take added strain.
Meanwhile, you seem to have developed quite a playboy image for yourself during last couple of years. It seems like you are having an affair with every leading lady that you interact with during the making of your films. Vidya Balan (Kismat Konnection), Priyanka Chopra (Kaminey) and now Anushka Sharma (yet untitled Yash Raj film) - it is indeed one enviable list. Really Shahid, what's happening?
(Laughs) Really yaar, my mummy-daddy should just find a nice girl for me and marry me off Vivah style. I guess it would be best if I go through an arranged marriage. At least talks around my so-called affairs would come to a stop. I mean ever since I went single two years back, there have been these constant talks around my relationships with fellow co-stars.
This is one 'accident' that Celina was waiting for to take place. Being in the industry for 6 years now, she has played a leading lady in close to dozen odd films. Though she may have played an integral part in some of her major films like No Entry, Jaanasheen and Red, she has also enjoyed good success in comic affairs like Golmaal Returns and Tom Dick and Harry. However, just like any other actor who, despite all the fame and adulation, craves for one film which showcases his/her acting talent to the fullest, even Celina was no different. She patiently waited for that day to arrive when she would be the central protagonist in a dramatic affair that would revolve around her. Accident On Hill Road turned out to be one such film which, as the title suggests, is a gritty dramatic thriller where Celina has managed to make people sit up and notice her act that required her to go way beyond the sexy image that she has built for herself and instead showcase the new facet of her persona. On the eve of the film's release, she chats with Joginder Tuteja, explains her stance of working in diverse films and her long term goal to be Number One actress in the country one day. With the kind of emerging market for small yet effective films, is Accident On Hill Road just the right kind of film for you? Absolutely, this is just the right film and it is arriving at just the right time. In fact I do believe that if it would have come when I had just started my acting career, I may not have been able to do complete justice to it. For this film, I had to not just drain myself emotionally but also go through some physical stress. For starters, I had to chop off my hair. Then I had to also put on some weight to go with the character. I guess the experience that I have gained as an actor over the years helped me portray this real tough character.
2009 would go down as a year that marked the turning point in the career of Neha Dhupia. Literally so because her Raat Gayi Baat Gayi is the last release of 2009 as it arrives on Thursday, 31st December. One night stand, adultery, a few drunken men and a sexy seductress in the midst of it all - Neha Dhupia, that's the kind of package that this fun film has to offer which has won some international recognition coming it's way en route to it's theatrical release. In a candid conversation with Joginder Tuteja, Neha reveals how working in a film like this is always akin to walking a thin rope, the comfort level that she has built with the makers (Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Sauyrabh Shukla) and her views on cheating (whether mental, emotional or physical).
It must be a great feeling to be seen in movies as diverse as a Raat Gayi Baat Gayi and De Dana Dan. Seems like things are falling in place for you...
Well, I don't know whether things are really falling in place for me but yes, my portfolio definitely looks better than before. I am doing good work for sure and I have realised that eventually it's all about timing. When I work in a subject like RGBG, I don't know how many women would have been able to handle it well for screen. The more I act, the more it becomes easier for me to handle characters and situations like these.
So what was the basic thought process you had when you stepped on the sets of the film?
There wasn't any major thought process except to go and enjoy out there. The character of Sophia is so close to my heart and it's the people out there who made it all so comfortable for me. Also, Saurabh was quite clear about how he wanted me to be presented in different scenes of the film. Like I remember on one day when I landed up on the shoot, I was just stepping into the vanity van to change. However, Saurabh said that he didn't want me to put any make up on and instead face the camera directly.
Neha without any make up? Now that's a first!
You know, there is this entire chunk of the film which I have shot without any make up. This is an after-party situation in the film. When I saw myself on the monitor, I really looked so natural and I am glad that I did it the way Saurabh had conceptualised. Now in any other film I would have been perhaps apprehensive but not with RGBG because a) I had faith in the unit and b) I believed in the power of the scene. The fact about the glam world is that when you are used to seeing yourself so glossed up all the time, you need to have certain faith and belief before you shed your inhibitions.
Mumbai, Jan 3 (IANS) Director Rajkumar Hirani is flabbergasted by author Chetan Bhagat's allegation that "3 Idiots" was majorly copied from his bestseller "Five Point Someone" without giving him due credit. Terming it a "clear case of defamation", Hirani says they may take legal action against Bhagat for flouting their contract.
"It's a clear case of defamation because contractually what he (Bhagat) was bound, he was given. Now why is he slandering us? We are consulting our lawyers. But that's a call Mr. Vinod Chopra has to take. He is the producer of the film," Hirani told IANS.
"I am sure it's defamation because lots of people I know are wondering (due to Bhagat's allegation) in lots of Tweeter and Facebook sites we have been abused saying, 'we won't watch Hirani's film or Abhijat's film'. This kind of muck is flying all over the place. I think Vinod Chopra is looking into it, I guess he will follow the legal path," he added.
Hirani clarified that once Bhagat had given the rights to make a film on his book, there shouldn't be any "percentage issue".
Hirani maintained that the basic plot of the film is completely different from the book.
"In the book, there is no bet between the two friends, the journey to find their friend is not there, the child delivery scene, the 'Balatkar' scene, the two weddings where they crashed these key scenes are not in the book. There are certain similarities, which I am not denying, but we had bought the rights for that.
"We can use 100 percent of it. What does he (Bhagat) mean by 70 percent? Are we supposed to pay more money for using 70 percent? Are we supposed to give different credit for 70 percent? I do not understand this percentage controversy," said Hirani.
Baghat has reportedly posted a blog saying he should have got a prominent place in the rolling credits. He also said that he was not shown the final script.
Reacting to his allegations, Hirani said: "We have officially bought the rights for the film. We drew a contract with him and it clearly mentions about the position of his credit. With open eyes he had seen the contract, consulted his lawyer and signed the agreement.
"In the contract, we have said that the title would be given in the rolling credits. We haven't changed the font size. We haven't increased the speed of the title. It's exactly there where it was agreed to be," said Hirani.
The director, who has a hattrick of hits - Aamir Khan starrer "3 Idiots", "Munnabhai M.B.B.S." and "Lage Raho Munna Bhai", says after signing the contract with Bhagat, they were not obliged to show the script to the author.
"I was not obligated to narrate the script to him. I have bought the script from him and I am supposed to use it the way I want to use it. I had changed the script drastically, so out of good gesture I wanted him to know it has changed so much and if he feels he doesn't want to be associated with the film, he can tell me.
"He heard the script for four hours and readily agreed to stay associated, saying 'I want to stay associated with the film, it's a fine script' which he has said in your (IANS) interview too. He signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Now he writes in his blog 'I wanted to see the final script and it was not shown to me'. It is a blatant lie, he is telling," Hirani added.
Asked if Bhagat could have a vested interest in kicking up the controversy, he said: "I guess there is a motivation to create the controversy so that people read the book and see the film."
Hirani says that they never relied on controversies to publicise their creative work.
"Our film is doing exceedingly well. It's beyond my dignity to create a controversy for a film. We have never sold our soul for our cinema. I'm not stooping to that level to sell my cinema or make extra money.
"When you talk of that percentage thing, it creates a curiosity to read that book and judge the film."
Would he again adapt Bhagat's book?
"This came as a shock to me that suddenly he is trying to hog the limelight; suddenly he is trying to take away the credit from the screenwriters who slogged for three years to modify the script. He doesn't understand the difference between book writing and writing for a film. If he continues doing these things, I would rather not associate with him."
Currently Hirani is working on two scripts with Abhijat Joshi. One among them is "Munna Bhai Chale America", while the other one is a completely different plot. He will start shooting either of them by the end of 2010.
It is that time of the year everyone readies themselves for a bit of soul searching ( if ever there is one, that is) and make seemingly steadfast resolutions to better themselves for the coming year. And when it comes to the Business of Bollywood, the overall performances of the products released in 2009 leaves a lot to be desired. And as far as the fairer and the prettier counterparts that drive box-office results in Bollywood, the old order seems to have quite prophetically given in to new, and there is a new star that is giving her peers the jeebies and her producers the big smile. More on that as we sift through our top 5 picks here at Bollywood Blogs.
5. Konkona Sen Sharma.
She has deftly moved from the "critical praise" phase to the "critical praise and commercial success" phase since her Mr. and Mrs.Iyer in 2002. And she always seems to find that right balance between 'parallel/ arthouse/alternative' productions and the commercial mainstream ones, having gone about quietly cultivating that level of acceptance in both patronizing communities. Both her mainstream releases, Luck By Chance and Wake Up Sid has propelled her into the league of bankable female leads who could be counted on for their projects.
4.Rani Mukerji.
For someone who has been on the top slot of Filmfare's 'Top Ten Bollywood Actresses' list for two years in a row (2004-2005), and No.5 at the "Ten Most Powerful Names of Bollywood" by Filmfare Magazine in 2007, 2009 seems to be a horrible dream. As Shobha De put it across very succinctly last week, she seems to be like Mumbai who desperately wants to reinvent herself, but have no idea into what! Dil Bole Hadippa, a movie constructed around her, was blown to kingdom come by the public. Maybe, her best is yet to come.
3. Kareena Kapoor.
The Queen of 'Zero' seems to be adding just that to her professional remuneration since 2008. Of the 3 releases Kambakkht Ishq, Main Aur Mrs.Khanna and Kurbaan till now, only Kambakkht Ishq enlived the box-office.3 Idiots, the big ticket release and her last in 2009 holds promise, may redeem her and propel her back to Diva.No 1 status. We hope too.
2. Priyanka Chopra.
Maybe its a tall order to replicate 2008, but 2009 could be counted on for the sheer number of roles Piggy Chops handled if you could just run them through. But What's Your Raashee failed to find its lucky run at the box-office. But Kaminey was good enough to keep the ship on course, but on cruise control.
1.Katrina Kaif.
This Kat rules Bollywood. From 2007, she has consistently powered box-office blockbusters just looking pretty and jiving to the chart busters. Katrina kaif is a phenomenon in Indian Cinema, whether you like it or not. And she has proved that she can set the collections on fire by just looking pretty with the latest Azab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani. NewYork , APKGK and now De dena Dan has reaffirmed her as the most sought after ingredient for any commercial production in Bollywood as of 2009. The reason is simple. She brings in the crowd, and the money. As far as the story goes, who cares for anything else?
Looks like a dangerous virus has entered the bollywood industry and it is slowly and steadily affecting our starts of the tinsel town. No need to panic. We are talking about the viral fever which has affected a lot of stars lately and the most recent victim is our own desi girl Priyanka Chopra. After doing some dangerous water stunts on the sets of Pyaar Impossible, Priyanka Chopra became a super girl, but at a cost. And because of that the shooting of Pyaar imposible has been cancelled. Don’t worry priyanka, our best wishes are with you and we wish you a speedy recovery.

In the only Bollywood awards decided by the audience, the ceremony for ‘Lux Sabse Favorite Kaun 2010 was marked by a slick slew of B-Town celebrities. Jazzing up the red carpet with their style and panache we had B-town glitterati Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu, Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar, Farah Khan, Arshad Warsi, Dia Mirza, Mugdha Godse, and other television actors. The award ceremony was hosted by Sajid Khan and in his own witty style he took a comic stab on film critics. Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Ritesh Deshmukh, Shruti Haasan, Prachi Desai and Mugdha Godse performed for the awards night and were also honored

Actress Neha Dhupia is now tired of the ‘sexy’ tag, which she believes has worked against her. The former Miss India, who started her Bollywood journey with bold roles in Qayamat and Julie, feels that despite having done some very serious roles, she has not been taken seriously in the industry because of her ‘sexy’ image. “I sincerely believe that the term ‘sexy’ is always used against me,” Dhupia told PTI.
The actress had to work hard to get over the Julie nickname that she earned for herself after a dare bare portrayal of a prostitute in the namesake film in 2004. “No one seems to realise that I can do a lot more. Why don’t people remember Mithya, Singh Is Kinng, Dasvidaniya or a Maharathi?” she questions.
“I strongly believe that my biggest flaw is that I am sexy. Just because of that, it is always safely presumed that I would be busy out there seducing people on screen,” she says.
“What makes you think that I am a seductress? May be I am a victim myself in that party. Yes, in the film’s context, I do flirt and have a drink with others around. But then may be ‘I am a poor-little-vulnerable-I-don’t-know-what-to-do’ Neha than being a sexy seductress Neha,” she jokes.
If you would have to decide the most sexiest Asian girl, who would you choose ? Well, it could be Katrina Kaif, who topped the annual World’s Top 50 Sexiest Asian Women list published by Eastern Eye, a UK magazine.
But one name that made it into the list for the first time is none other than our very own Shruti Haasan, who has been given 49th place in the list.
The gorgeous star child, who debuted in Bollywood with Luck opposite Immran Khan, has shown off her multitasking skills time and again. She is a singer, actor and with Unnai Pol Oruvan, a music director too.
Now the actress is busy in a Telugu film opposite Siddharth, directed by National Award winning director Prakash Rao.
The chocolate hero is melting a lot these days. The latest heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has locked his lips with Priyanka Chopra in the upcoming movie Anjaana Anjaani. The kissing scene for the Siddharth Anand directed movie was recently shot during the its Bangkok schedule. Although Ranbir and Priyanka are pairing for the first time their on-screen chemistry is amazing. A source on the sets reveals that the two star interacted and partied together before the scene was shot. Both of them also did lot of readings for their romantic scenes.
Siddharth Anand making Ranbir kiss in the movie was quite obvious after the director made him kiss three ladies in their last movie together. Ranbir had locked lips with Minissha Lamba, Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone in Bachna Ae Haseeno. Even though Ranbir and Priyanka have shot one kissing scene another one might be on the cards. The Anjaana Anjaani team will next head to New York for a shoot at the Times Square where a cosy shot is most likely.
Luck the debut film of Shruti Haasan did not get her much of luck. She has been not seen in the limelight since the movie released. The singer turnedactress will be performing today at a award function in Mumbai for the very first time.
Though the reactions to the promos of Salman Khan’s Anil Sharma directed period drama flick VEER were quite negative, but what everyone conveniently forgot was that the director of VEER is Anil Sharma, who has given GADAR: EK PREM KATHA, one of the biggest blockbusters of Hindi cinema.
Not many will remember that when the first promos/ look of Anil Sharma’s GADAR were out, the reactions that it received were almost similar to what Salman’s VEER received. There was a lot of criticism of its old, jaded look with a section of the media poking fun at its trailers especially in comparison to LAGAAN, which was a stylish period film and released alongside GADAR.
To sum up Salman’s VEER is definitely in capable hands and there is no reason why Salman fans can’t expect a GADAR out of VEER. Here’s hoping that it does!
Its a bad news that the decrease in Katrina Kaif’s hemoglobin count continues to plummet, Katrina’s health is causing distress to all those who know her. Everyone around Katrina, well-wishers, co-stars, friends and family are beginning to be extremely worried about Katrina’s deteriorating health. On Sunday she was again at a suburban hospital to take further tests as her haemoglobin count continued to fall, despite treatment from the best doctors in the city.
Though Katrina has been extremely selective recently about the appearances she makes, she is obviously still straining too much and it is affecting her adversely. On Sunday Katrina woke up unable to get out of bed. The worst blow to her frail energy level was the hectic wedding of Salman Khan’s close family-friend Krishan Narayan’s daughter which Katrina attended for two consecutive nights on Friday and Saturday for the sangeet and wedding.
A friend explained, “It was a commitment she couldn’t wriggle out of. The bride’s father, an associate of politician Praful Patel, is a very close friend of Salman Khan. And Katrina who has always looked at Salman’s friends as her own, had to be there.”
Despite her success with Jab We Met, there is hardly anything this actress is doing for which one can take her seriously. The next route for an actor to take after giving a breakthrough performance is to get serious. There is no telling with Kareena; she can ham her way in a movie to stun you in another and then just as equally fall back to where she started.
No one can deny her starpower; she has become the gossip for tabloids and newspapers; sad in a way. Then, there’s the countless campaigns. Just how many different soaps is she using? and selling to the public? I lost track after the 20th. Then comes the “special appearances”; just why is that so *in* these days? I fail to understand why able directors need two minutes of star celebrities to get their movies rolling?
So, she has almost five movies coming out this year. Will one of them turn out to be Omkara or Jab We Met? Let’s see. For now, for me, for this actress, it’s back to ignore.
Also, is it just me or does she really have no chemistry with Salman Khan? Nada. Zilch. Yet again, she’s doing a movie with him.
Serious thoughts cross my mind as I listen to some of the most devout admirers of Dr. Amitabh Bachchan who have stood by him through thick and thin during all the thirty-six years and more that he has been around and ruling supreme.
These Bhakts of the Bachchan are anxious about some roles Bachchan has played in some films in the past and two films which he has agreed to play now, one complete and one in the making, Nishabd and Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay. They very strongly feel that Bachchan should not have agreed to play the philanderer. The ageing man with a strong weakness for women in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. They genuinely and sincerely feel that the role did not suit his age and certainly not the grace, the dignity and the status which he has earned for himself. Now they are upset and are wondering why their icon is playing the elderly man madly in love with a nymphet in Ram Gopal Varmas Nishabd and shocked with his decision to play Gabbar Singh in Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay which RGV time and again claims to be his tribute to Ramesh Sippys all-time classic, Sholay. Some of them refuse to see their icon trying his time-tested talent in playing a variety of roles to prove his caliber as a complete actor. Some others go to the unimaginable extent of blaming Ram Gopal Varma for slowly but certainly damaging the image of the greatest icon of all times.
One woman in her early fifties, a school teacher, even grows unreasonable and illogical when she blames Varma for carrying on a one-man wicked crusade to destroy the man of a million dreams, first with Sarkar and now with Nishabd and Ram Gopal Ke Sholay. She says Ramuji was playing with the innocent ambition of the actor among all actors. Even as Dr. Bachchan is completing his shooting as Gabbar Singh and waiting for the release of Nishabd, I give you some of their views and they are not views coming from the illiterate of the much-under-rated janata. Besides the school teacher, I have two doctors, a house wife and a twenty-two year old young woman doing her final year in law. Listen to them, they have a voice and they want their voice to be heard.
Dr. Nachar is a practicing family doctor in Ghatkopar. He is so crazy about Bachchanji as he calls him that he has his dispensary plastered with hundreds of photographs of Bachchanji. The doctor sometimes prescribes an Amitabh Bachchan film to his patients and buys tickets for those who cannot afford to. Says Dr. Nachar, I have never dared to question Bachchanji whom I consider to be an avatar of God. But some of his recent roles are giving me sleepless nights. Where was the need for him to play Sam in KANK and now as if that was not enough he has fallen into the wild trap of Ram Gopal Varma by agreeing to play Gabbar Singh and the old man in love with a girl less than one-fourth of his age in Nishabd which I am told is based on Lolita which is a very dirty book which I have read. I have always told my patients that Bachchanji is the modern day Mahapurush. What will i tell them now?"
he other day i was doing the one thing that i had decided a million years back that i would never do. I was watching a Bollywood flick.
Result: I decided to renew my vows.
So me being me and having more than plenty of time to bust on absolute crap decide to do some R & D on the subject and come to the realisation that in the last 50 years, Bollywood has made like 10 original movies.
And that was back in the 50s. After that, the great (ahem!!) moviemakers of our country decided to get well - inspired, (and i thought 'sorry' was the fakest word in existence). So basically every movie that we come across is a copy of a copy of some other movie made by some other dude, or dudette (being politically correct).
Thats when i took an oath that i should atleast try and save my imaginary readers from this plot of deceit, and in the process save 14 hours of your time, per movie.
So here is me giving y'all the summary of just about any other inspired movie that Bollywood has ever released, or intends to release.
Boy meets girl.
Girl meets boy.
(This is written separately coz in both the instances we have separate songs)
They fall in love.
(Another song)
(And this is not just ordinary love. In two meets they decide that they will rather die than be without each other, where in real life, even after a year, it took this one girl half a second to dump me)
Girls dad / uncle / brother / husband / ex-boyfriend finds out.
(This usually happens at a party, in the middle of another song sung by the guy, who can barely afford shoelaces, turns up wearing an Armani)
The girls dad / uncle / brother / husband / ex-boyfriend has a problem with it.
(This character is called the villian)
Villian and two hundred other goons with him beat up boyfriend
(Real life. "Fuck it dude.. This shit isnt worth it."
Reel life. Our hero decides to take on them and beats all of them to the ground in spectacular Matrix slow motion. Until our villain gets one shot through to him. Variation: Gun / Knife / Stick)
Boyfriend in hospital
(He always has his own room, even for a broken wrist and a couple of bruises. He always has bandages that look as though they just came out of the washing machine, and our hero's wounds are placed so spectacularly that it actually makes him look cooler than normal. Not to mention there is not a single crease on the same shirt he was beaten up in.)
Girl hears of this from servant
(Another song)
(P.S. Servant is always more faithful to heroin than the villain.. duh!!!)
Girl starts crying
(Another song)
Keeps crying
(Song follows)
Guy cries
(Song still follows...)
Hero somehow beats up Villains Villain to save Villain. Comic servant helps.
(Song finally stops)
Villain realizes he cant stop true love
(Like obviously!!!)
They all live happily ever after.
(Another song!)
The End.
(Thank you for wasting your ticket money)
So there it is. The official storyline that movie makers of our country have been dwelling on for decades now.
I do sincerely hope that i have not spoilt the movie going experience of all you folks out there, and if i have, trust me I am doing you all a favour.
The trend seems to be still on the run. 2006 saw a list of celebrities getting married and so does 2007, already looking promising. 2006 surprised us with Surya and Jyothika, Selvaraghavan and Sonia Agarwal tying the knots within a short notice period. Surya and Jo have been in the list for a long time and have continuously refused their relationship as nothing more than friends. So did the Selva and Sonia pair.
Now Abhi and Ash have followed suit and after repeated refusal to the media about their relationship, have admitted and are preparing to tie the knot sometime early this year, I suppose. In Bollywood and Kollywood, nothing is final until it happens, you see.
Everyday an actor or an actress is making statements to the media about marrying their co-artist. Interestingly, the actors get wedded to the actors they have been acting with, in many films and it so happens they announce a wedding or an engagement date soon after they complete a movie together.
What is happening to the film industry these days? Why are they getting married to one another? Looks like, if I were to study the pattern I will be writing a book at the end of it. So let me keep it short and crisp.
A reputed family like the Bachchans could have had a better choice with regard to daughter-in-law, in my opinion. This is no abusing but a thought. Despite several instances where Ash had been talked about having an affair with Salman and Oberoi and the entire fight episode to which the press were invited, the Bachchans have gone forth for an engagement. Ash has been in the news for several days for a million other reasons and according to me; she is the most talked about women, both in Bollywood and in the beauty world. These have made her more popular than what she deserves.
When she was with Salman, all her movies starred the two and when with Oberoi they appeared together in many films and now its the turn of the Junior Bachchan. Lately all of his and her movie has had the two of them in the lead role. Ash has denied the gossips about her affair with the two X-boy friends. Yes, may be she never had an affair with them, but her movies says it all. Its a pretty readable pattern. Dont you think so?
Once the news about her break up with Salman spread, she has never acted a movie with him and the same with Vivek. What is the real thing behind it? Am no investigator but curiosity kills me man!
Why would anyone want to make a wrong choice knowing it is one? People dig their own grave, at times. Is money the only factor that matters? I understand about the woman perspective and all the arguments about men having several affairs before marriage and getting wedded to another later. But, be it a woman or a man, they know their principles for themselves. Dont they?
Would like to know, how many of you accept my stand: Ash and Jr B are not the apt pairs....Bachchans deserve someone better
I think all right thinking and morally privileged Indians should praise the Bachchan family, Ashwariya Rai and her would-be husband Abhishek for getting Ash's kissing scene with Hrithik Roshan chopped off the film Dhoom 2!
It shows that they realise it was a mistake on her part and that there is genuine regret for the same. Also, this act by the First Man of Bollywood will send much needed positive signals all over the Indian film world to prove that such scenes are not necessary after all to deliver a story nuance to the audience. If Yash Raj Films thought that kiss scene was certainly relevant to convey a nuance then I am sure they would not have removed it at all.
In this context Hrithik wanted to mislead us when he sought to explain how the scene was indeed a must in order to impact with the story line.
As for Aishwarya Rai this is one more confirmation that she is a shade better than the rest and certainly not a deliberate flesh-exhibitionist like Mallika Sherawat and Rakhi Sawant.
And yes, now that she will be entering the Bachchan household it was incumbent upon them to be seen to be working more with Indian values and morals in mind than values determined by commerce.
There are men and women enough in India who can take care of that.
Katrina Kaif retained the top spot in an annual list of the world's 50 sexiest Asian women. The British born Bollywood actress beat out many to be number one. Indian actresses took 8 of the top 10 spots, with Laila Rouass, British television star, and Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat completing the list. The top 10 of the Eastern Eye 50 Sexiest Asian Women were Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Freida Pinto, Laila Rouass, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Mehwish Hayat and Deepika Padukone.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a woman of substance and there is certainly no doubt. Recently, a survey by a research organization of the popular, Hansa Research has revealed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the most powerful actor in the women's race before the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and even Madhuri Dixit.
It was the first research was conducted on such a scale to measure Celebrity Power in India, focusing on different attributes such as Popularity, the media, the power of persuasion and image attributes. India This research also revealed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is among the most convincing and sympathetic celebrity in India. She also collected more than 98.8% of recognition and recall value which is at par with the legends of cinema as Amitabh Bachchan and cricket star Sachin Tendulkar, it is the only woman who is part of top 10 recognized celebrities from all walks of life.
The investigation also disclosed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is clearly one of the most popular faces among the classes and the masses. In a society dominated by men otherwise Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is clear that the woman on top.
Like the Barbie doll is completing his 50th year, Mattel Toys has decided to launch a Barbie doll based on the appearance of the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
